Before applying, please check that you’re available for a needed shift:
Mondays 2-4 PM
Time Commitment:
- We ask volunteers to make an initial 3-month commitment.
- Most shifts are 2 hours (but flexible.)
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Assist people navigating online sites and accessing accounts.
- Represent the library through patience and knowledge, with a problem-solving spirit.
- Help people use basic office software like Office, Google Docs, and Libre Office Open-source software.
- Help people use library’s printing and scanning equipment.
How you will make a difference:
Beaverton has lots of people who rely on library computers for internet. They need to navigate life, scanning and printing, editing, job hunting, applying for things, and accessing benefits. This supports an essential public services role.
Qualifications:
Easily able to perform tasks using a PC, the internet, and copiers, scanners. Enjoy helping others.
Age limit or range:
- 18+

People are grateful to learn from your insight about user interfaces. Pointing out a dropdown menu, menu options, three dots, where to click for uploading, or how to find settings are small things you know, yet are revolutionary support to your community. You will help those who still face a digital learning curve, for various reasons. What might seem perfectly obvious to you, is a frustrating struggle for many. Every shift you work, you will make a huge difference reducing obstacles.
