The purpose of the volunteer program is to expand and enhance quality community services by promoting citizen participation within the Dallas Park and Recreation Department. This program is designed as an avenue for citizens with a variety of backgrounds and experiences to participate in the daily work and activities of the Department to better serve their community.

This program builds resilient communities through environmental stewardship education, sustainably improving neighborhood appearance and showing our total concern for the physical and human quality we pass on to our children and the future, which has a broader impact on the quality of life in Dallas.
Group Volunteering is an excellent way for companies to facilitate teambuilding and active engagement amongst peers in the workplace. When companies participate in Group Volunteering it can help boost employee morale while also providing a unique way to promote company retention.

Individual Volunteers are volunteers who want to serve and participate in community Park and Recreation programs and events.
Youth Sports Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Administrator's and Timekeeper's are needed at many Dallas Park and Recreation location's. These volunteers will help with the basic operations for youth sports, such as basketball, baseball, coaching, soccer, gymnastics, boxing, lacrosse and many more. These volunteer opportunities take place after 5:00pm, 1-2 days a week. We need you. Sharing your time will help facilitate better futures for these young athletes by creating positive experiences in which children learn sportsmanship, fundamental skills, teamwork, and responsibility. Some lifting, knowledge of the game and ability to be in the elements is required.
Help spread joy, friendship, and a sense of community at special events such as holiday luncheons, egg hunts, fall festivals, senior games and more. Opportunities may include assisting with parking, cleanup, event set up/break down, patron greeting and general participation in making events awesome experiences for everyone. Volunteers are needed! Dallas Park and Recreation centers are seeking volunteers to teach arts, crafts, guitar, pottery, exercise, cultural dance, board games, cards, fishing and plenty more exciting and creative activities. Do you have a special skill you would like to share? Sign up today!
Volunteers are needed to mentor and tutor youth in our after school programs. By volunteering an hour of your time one day a week you can make an impression in a child’s life that will last a lifetime.
We have awesome opportunities available to work with teens through our new youth division program, Teens Organized and Prepared for Success (TOPS). This program was designed to reinforce positive behavior and reduce the recidivism rate among Dallas teens. There are also opportunities to assist tech agents in our Best Buy Teen Tech Center, where young people ages 12-17, can work with adult mentors to develop new skills, explore their own ideas, build self-confidence and proficiency in tech.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to enhance independence, quality of life, and functioning for individuals with disabilities and other health conditions. These volunteers will assist with providing a full range of recreational activities including the arts, horticulture, sports, games, adventure recreation, and many other leisure interests.
Volunteers are needed to work with our recreation and leisure senior activities focused on 5 core areas: competition, health/fitness, socialization, special events, and special interests. Opportunities include Aerobics, Arts & Crafts, Book Clubs, Bridge, Day Trips, Dominoes, Pickle Ball, Tool Tables and Nutrition Classes, Walking Clubs, Weight Training, Community Volunteer Opportunities and more! Come join the fun and make a senior smile.
Volunteers are needed to help with day-to-day operations at our Park and Recreation Centers. These volunteers will answer phones, check-in Recreation Center members, monitor Recreation Center activities and provide custodial assistance. This is a great opportunity to get to know the community and make new acquaintances!
