POSITION OVERVIEW
Arts Program Volunteers assist and support the Arts Instructor with running the arts programs. Arts Program Volunteers choose a program to commit to on a weekly basis for the duration of a session.
Together with the Arts Instructor, the Arts Program Volunteer will be actively engaged in the program activities, help build confidence in program participants and support a positive and inclusive learning environment. If Volunteers are interested, we welcome your contribution to the planning and delivery of program material, with support from the Arts Instructor.
Age requirement: 15 years
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support in activities such as set up & take down of program, sign in/sign out process, classroom management, emergency response procedures and more
- Actively engage in program with participants and iterate program instructions as needed
- Maintain a safe environment by following policies and procedures to manage risks associated with participation in programs
- Build relationships with the participants, their families and YMCA staff and volunteers
- Ensure safety, communication and a sense of belonging are high priorities
- Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
- Communicate with Arts Program Director regarding any situations during your shift

SKILLS
At YMCA Calgary we ensure our volunteers are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:
- Experience and/or interest in visual arts, dance and or drama
QUALIFICATIONS
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Three references – one can be personal reference
- Able to attend and complete required YMCA trainings which may be at various YMCA locations
- Available evenings and/or weekends if required
