POSITION OVERVIEW


The Aquatics Volunteer will support the Aquatics team by helping manage capacity lines, basin capacity, and general support to the Aquatics Team.

 

Age requirement: 15+

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a safe environment by following policies and procedures to manage risks associated with participation in programs
  • Assist with off-deck tasks including but not limited to capacity management (headcounts), Test Mark Protect (Aquatics Safety Program), and light cleaning duties
  • Communicate with patrons with regard to capacity procedures
  • Build relationships with the participants, their families and YMCA staff and volunteers
  • Ensure safety, communication and a sense of belonging are high priorities
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
  • Communicate with Aquatics Staff or Duty Manager regarding any situations during your shift

SKILLS

At YMCA Calgary we ensure our volunteers are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following: 

  1. Interest in working in an Aquatics environment
  2. Ability to work in a standing position
  3. Previous Customer Service Experience is an asset
  4. Good communication abilities
  5. Multilingual is an asset


QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search 
  2. Three references – one can be personal reference
  3. Able to attend and complete required YMCA trainings which may be at various YMCA locations
  4. Available evenings and/or weekends if required
