POSITION OVERVIEW
The Piano Accompanist Volunteer assists and supports the Choir Instructor with running a choir program. It is preferable if the Piano Accompanist can commit to volunteering on a weekly basis for the duration of a session. Together with the Choir Instructor, the Piano Accompanist Volunteer will be playing piano alongside the direction of the Choir Instructor, help build confidence in program participants and support a positive and inclusive learning environment. If Volunteers are interested, we welcome your contribution to the program material, with support from the Choir Instructor.
Age requirement: 15+
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In consultation with the Choir Instructor, research and plan musical selections that is suitable for participants (children, adults and seniors)

- Provide piano accompaniment accordingly to the curriculum design.
- Help offer input into the into the growth and development of all arts programming initiatives
- Assure the health and safety of participants by following health and safety practices and regulations
- Provide a safe, fun, engaging, creative and supportive environment for participants and volunteers
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends;
- Ensure the space and its equipment are being treated safely, and appropriately

SKILLS
At YMCA Calgary we ensure our volunteers are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:
- Ability to sight read and play piano, accompanist experience preferred.
- Exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality

QUALIFICATIONS
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Three references – one can be personal reference
- Able to attend and complete required YMCA trainings which may be at various YMCA locations
- Available evenings and/or weekends if required
