3. Patient Volunteers (Companionship, Respite, Music, Reiki, Pet Therapy, Vigil, Bereavement)

Patient Care Volunteers provide direct support to hospice patients and families, whether they be in private homes, assisted living and nursing home facilities, or in our Community Hospice House.  Volunteers make friendly visits, help with light housekeeping or other tasks, and provide respite, allowing caregivers to take a break.  Specialized volunteers also offer a number of complementary services, including Music at the Bedside, Reiki, and Pet Therapy. Veterans provide vet-to-vet support, meeting the unique needs of our veteran patients.  Vigil volunteers provide presence at the very end of life. Bereavement volunteers support programs for grieving children, teens and adults. All Patient Care Volunteers are required to complete the 33-hour hospice training.
