Congregational Partnership Program Volunteers
Volunteer Supervisor: Melanie Wiersma
Description: The Congregational Partnership Program connects congregations with families who have experienced homelessness as they regain housing stability. By walking along-side a family, you are a listening ear and support to a family who may not have other people in their life to count on. Volunteers are individuals from a congregation who are the primary contact with a family. The volunteers meet with families at least once per month for six months and coordinate communication between their congregation and family. All others interested in volunteering can help on an as needed basis.
Number of volunteers needed: Unlimited
Schedule: Volunteers provide relational support for one family for six months. The CPP asks volunteers to have a minimum of one meeting with the family per month, but are encouraged to meet 2-3 times per month. The CPP also offers one time events such as creating welcome baskets for new families that can be arranged and held at a congregation.
Qualifications: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have gone through the volunteer training. Background Check from through The Salvation Army is also required.
