HCCB: LHA - One-Off Lower Hunter Area Volunteering Opportunities - Shorebird World Migratory Day Stockton Sandspit

Join with other volunteers, NPWS, Local Land Services staff and migratory shorebird experts to restore and improve saltmarsh habitats for some of the world’s most impressive birdlife. Learn about what makes the saltmarsh habitat at Hunter Wetlands National Park so unique – and why it is so critical to protect. Enjoy talks from experts from Hunter Bird Observers Club about the life of migratory shorebirds, their unique biology, how to spot them and the threats to their survival. NPWS will provide lunch and all tools needed – be prepared to get muddy, meet likeminded people and make memories while you make a difference.
Wear your volunteer uniform or long-sleeved shirt and long pants and sturdy closed in shoes. This activity takes place in muddy habitats, so bring gloves and gumboots or water shoes if you have them (also provided). We suggest a raincoat, towel and a warm change of clothes for after the restoration session. Bring along water and any personal medication and snacks. Tea, coffee and lunch are provided.
