Education & Interpretation - Bike Maintenance
Bike Maintenance
This is a highly independent position that has minimal to no staff oversight. Volunteers will repair and provide maintenance for a variety of bicycles types. Our bike fleet contains around 100 bikes of varying brand and size. Duties may include:
- Check tire pressure and refilling tires with air
- Inventorying bike supplies, accessories, and bike
- Change tire tubes
- Other general bike maintenance
What to Know:
- This is a independent position with a flexible schedule.
- Working conditions are outdoors or in the barn. Barn is dusty and contains uneven terrain.
- MUST be able to lift up 50 lbs to remove bikes from hanging on the cieling.
- A volunteer MUST have knowledge of basic bike maintenance or be willing to self-learn through means of their choosing (YouTube video, etc.).
- Position will be at the Lussier Family Heritage Center and stay to repair bike equipment on-site between 9 am - 3pm on week days. Please stop by the office to check in before beginning your tasks.
- Upon signing up, Volunteer Program staff will review your request and connect you to the Education Program staff in charge of overseeing this volunteer role. Education staff will then schedule a brief meeting with you during your first shift to review the position, show you tools and materials, and finalize other details necessary for the role.
