Invasive Tree and Brush Removal at Lower Mud Lake
We have a real winter this year! This is a great time for burning brush piles, removing invasive trees and brush from our woodlands and prairies, and enjoying the fresh air and bright sunshine. Please join us in embracing the Wisconsin winter as well as improving Lower Mud Lake habitat.
Sawyers and haulers are needed. *Sawyers must have a chainsaw certificate uploaded on MyImpact in order to operate a chainsaw on DCP property.

Dane County Park Lower Mud Lake Natural Resource Area
Hidden Farm Road, McFarland, WI 53558
- Meet at the small parking lot at the south end of Hidden Farm Road.
How to Prepare:
What to Know:
- Sawyers bring their own equipment and safety gear.
- Safety helmets, gloves, loppers provided for haulers. No experience needed.
- Bring your own water/beverage. A snack will be provided during break time.
- Feel free to join us even if you cannot stay for the entire time.
What to Wear:
- Dress for the weather in layers--you will get hot as we work!
- Sturdy work boots are recommended.
Accessibility:
- Volunteers should be comfortable with walking on uneven terrain.
- The work area is a 10-minute walk from the entrance.
