Adopt-A-Stream - Stream Cleanup! Walnut Creek at Loyd Park

Please join us in this fun, water-based volunteer opportunity to help clean up Walnut Creek located in Loyd Park. Volunteers will be collecting floating litter in the creek from kayaks, generously provided by North Texas River Runners (NTRR). Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own kayak and life jacket.

Volunteers must register for this event by Thursday, October 8, 2026. This helps us ensure we have enough kayaks for all of our volunteers, and give the park a headcount of volunteers to expect. All volunteers will receive free admission to Loyd Park for the day. If you'd like to volunteer, but prefer to help on the shoreline, that works too! We'll take all the support on the water collecting litter, and on land collecting the bags of litter from the water volunteers.

Address to Loyd Park: 3401 Ragland Rd, Grand Prairie 75052

Volunteer Location: Canoe Launch at the south end of the park, not to be confused with the boat ramp which is at the north end of the park. Please see picture below:

Parking at the canoe launch is given to NTRR staff and volunteers bringing their own kayaks. Overflow parking is available at the hiking trailhead (dead end of paved road) which is about a 5 to 10 minute walk south of the canoe launch. This is also the location of the nearest bathrooms.

Please register on BetterImpact. If you have any trouble registering online, or have any questions or concerns, please email kgpb@gptx.org
