It’s an exciting time to become a volunteer at Salisbury Museum as we move towards the completion of our transformational £5.1m National Heritage Lottery Funded redevelopment project Past Forward. The redevelopment of the museum is critical for people’s enjoyment and understanding of the city’s great stories and for the long-term protection of the King’s House and the museum.

All you need to do to get going is to fill out an application from this page and register with us as a volunteer. It's a quick and easy process, once completed you will be able to:

  • See what opportunities are on offer
  • Find out how you can get involved in a role that suits you
  • Get stuck in with our amazing online library

As part of our thriving and dedicated team of volunteers you will be joining over 200 others who are working hard across a wide range of areas to help make Salisbury Museum the success it is today. There are exciting volunteer opportunities currently in engagement and learning volunteering. For all of the roles we are flexible with the time you can commit and will provide full training.

If you have any difficulties or queries about registration, please email the Volunteer Coordinator Kate Douglas at katedouglas@salisburymuseum.org.uk or call 01722 332151

Mission Statement

At The Salisbury Museum we engage and inspire local, national and global audiences by telling the story of a unique landscape which has been the cradle of continuous human achievement for over half a million years.

We use our expertise, creativity and passion, and the extraordinary breadth of our collections, to present world-class displays, exhibitions and events. Our work gives context to the archaeological, historic and artistic riches of Salisbury and south Wiltshire.

Together, we create inspiring experiences, which enable our audiences to appreciate what is so special and significant about this landscape, and the people who have shaped it. In this way, The Salisbury Museum acts as a catalyst to understanding English history on many different levels.
