Animals and the Environment - Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation: Wildlife Centre Volunteer

Information on this Role

Volunteering is a truly rewarding experience, and even mundane tasks such as floor-mopping are more enjoyable when you know you’re helping wildlife and are surrounded by such magnificent creatures.

Help is needed in various roles and at various times of year. Spring and summer are our “peak” seasons, however, we rely heavily on 100+ active volunteers year round to keep our centre operating.

If you would like more information about volunteering, please e-mail our volunteer co-ordinator with the following information included:
•Full name
•E-mail address
•Phone number
•Roles you are interested in
•Your availability

The first step is to attend an information session and learn more about AIWC and the volunteering opportunities we provide.

If you would like to continue with the volunteering process after attending an information session, you will then be required to attend an orientation and receive necessary training prior to volunteering at AIWC. Candidates will be interviewed by our volunteer co-ordinator, this gives volunteers a good opportunity to ask any questions they have and outline what they would like to do at AIWC.

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have access to a vehicle. Public transportation is not available to our wildlife hospital. Volunteers must also be able to commit to 2-3 shifts per month for this position.
