Arts & Culture - Nose Creek Valley Museum: Registrar
Nose Creek Valley Museum
1701 Main Street SW
Volunteer Opportunity: REGISTRAR
Suitability: Individual Adult (18+)
This is one of the most important jobs at the museum.
When items are donated to the museum the first thing that occurs is that each item is catalogued before it becomes an artefact that can be archived or displayed. This is an exacting manual and somewhat repetitive process. Each item is given a unique identifying number. That number as well as a description of the item is entered into several different databases, a paper record with the same information is created for archival reference and the unique identifier is written on the donated item.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
Extensive hands on training will be provided.
The opportunity to work closely with the museum Curator and get to know the inner workings of a museum.
Hours will fluctuate based on the number of items that have been donated and that require cataloguing.
