Volunteer Opportunity: TOUR GUIDE
Suitability: Individual Adult (18+)
Assist in the delivery of museum school tours using the backdrop of the six permanent museum displays.
School tours are curriculum based and can include grades K-9. Teachers tailor their requirements based on their school teaching modules.
There are additional occasions where you may be asked to lead tours for other groups or participate in museum special events.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US
On the job training consisting of job shadowing experienced museum Docents as they lead tour groups through the museum. In addition, documentation is available that provides talking points for each of the permanent displays.
Hours will fluctuate based on the number of school classes that participate in the program.
The opportunity to gain first hand knowledge of the history of the Nose Creek Valley.
The opportunity to work with a staff and volunteer team that are committed to developing and delivering high quality programs.
There is a need to undergo a Police Information Check and a Child Intervention Record Check prior to leading tours.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
The ability to work both independently and in a small team environment.
A passion for people and story telling coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with all age groups.
The ability to use both of Canada’s Official Languages while not a requirement would be an asset.
An interest in local history.
A good eye for detail.
A desire to make a difference in the community.
