San Diego Pride

This department is focused on ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all volunteers and attendees with access needs for Pride festival and events.

Assist the bar vendor at an assigned full or speed bar with keeping adequate supply levels of cups, ice, product, etc.

Exhibitor relations volunteers will help the 350+ vendors get checked in, set up and troubleshoot and assist the vendor needs at the Pride festival. Anything from answering general questions to helping obtain more chairs and various other items for exhibitor booths to informing the right department if the exhibitor is experiencing a power outage.

Festival Emergency Exit Team Volunteers will staff the festival perimeter emergency exits.  Will assist with emergency exit management in the event of an evacuation as well as help deter 'fence jumpers.'

Direct festival attendees to the appropriate exit, tally number of guests leaving, scan out and handstamp festival attendees wishing to return same day.

Giving all other departments in the festival the supplies they requested. Volunteers will need to keep all supplies organized, lift up to 40 pounds, and be able to read and mark off a list of departments and their supplies.

Tasks ensure the controlled and legal access to purchase alcoholic beverages by issuing wristbands to those of legal drinking age at ID check stations throughout the festival.

Volunteer for the Latinx Pride Zone inside of the San Diego Pride Festival on July 16th and 17th.

The Marketing and Communication team needs volunteers year-round, including during Pride Week (She Fest, Light Up the Cathedral, Spirt of Stonewall Rally, 5K, Parade, and Festival). 

Tasks range from social media posting, social media management, email monitoring, copy editor, graphic design, phone calls, and more. Additional opportunities include photography and videography. 

MarCom experience is required.

San Diego Pride has year round needs for volunteer photographers and videographers.

Volunteer photographers will help capture the culture and significance of San Diego Pride events. Volunteers photographers will attend events throughout the year, during the week and on weekends.

*Note: All photos become property of San Diego Pride. Photos will have a watermark for photographer credit. 

Volunteer videographers will help capture moving images on digital and streaming media. Volunteer videographers will help in the pre- production and post-production video production.

The Medical department addresses the medical needs that can arise during Pride.

Medical volunteers assist in a wide array of medical needs that might arise at Pride. Qualified volunteers must have a current and valid Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Card in accordance with the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED) Program. EMTs, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors and any others involved in related health fields are encouraged to apply. Must be 18 or older.

Volunteers in this area will need to provide appropriate credentials to Pride's Director of Programs, Mark D. Maddox mark.maddox@sdpride.org

Pride Village volunteers will manage the volunteer check in and re-entry at the Festival. They will greet volunteers, distribute t-shirts and assist volunteers as needed.

Events and volunteer support for the Queer Asian Pacific Islander, Middle Eastern, Desi-American Coalition

San Diego Queer APIMEDA Coalition

Purpose: Create a safe and welcoming space designed to foster meaningful discussions about the intersection of individuals who identify as Desi, Middle-Eastern, Pacific Islander, Asian, and LGBTQ+.

Mission: Build capacity and leaders within the LGBTQ+ Desi, Middle-Eastern, Pacific Islander, Asian community to promote connectivity, combat stereotypes and racism, and mobilize our civic and economic power.

She Fest centers LGBTQ+ women and non-binary folks.

She Fest is a woman-centered event that celebrates and supports the talents and contributions of women while fostering meaningful connections within the LGBTQ+ and broader San Diego community. In previous years, we have put on a program that combines workshops, music, food, games, and booths for local vendors, community groups, and organizations that support our mission.

WHO WE ARE: 

We are a volunteer committee of LGBTQ+ women and non-binary folks centering the diverse experiences of LGBTQ+ women and people who feel at home with “she.” Together, we foster community connections for San Diego’s LGBTQ+ women and intentional allies; we combat homophobia, transphobia, and the patriarchy; and, we highlight and celebrate the spectrum of “she.” We are explicitly inclusive and affirming of trans women and non-binary folks.

Youth zone is a space for young people to celebrate themselves and each other at Pride. Only youth-approved volunteers may register for this Pride activity.
