SUMMARY:  Sacramento LGBT Community Center provides HIV/HCV testing on and off-site at no cost for community members. The STI specimen collector supports STI (chlamydia/Gonorrhea) testing services performed at off-site locations by preparing the specimens, instructing community members on how to administer the self-tests, processing the paper work necessary, and doing quality assurance checks. With this support, the health team is able to increase capacity, serving more clients.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Collect and process Chlamydia and Gonorrhea specimens
  2. Ensure required paperwork/documentation is complete and accurate
  3. Complete Quality Assurance Assessments

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Must complete trainings on how to collect urine, throat and rectal swabs. (Training provided)
  2. Spanish language fluency preferred, not required

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ+ people.
  2. Passion for The Center’s mission and work to create a region where LGBTQ+ people thrive and a commitment to follow all policies and procedures of the organization.
  3. Respect for everyone’s real or perceived sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender-identity and gender-expression, including pronouns.  
  4. Commitment to anti-racism and racial equity. 
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration statuses, and physical abilities in an intersectional environment.
  6. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; fluency to read, write, speak, and hear English.
  7. Business Casual attire and closed toed shoes required.
  8. Physical Demands: Persons in this position will be required to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, and to hear, understand, and distinguish in-person speech. Persons in this position may be seated or standing, and may sometimes be asked to accompany a lost individual to their destination.   9. Vaccination Requirement: We fully support COVID-19 vaccinations and are requiring employees and volunteers to provide proof of initial vaccination. Documentation will be required prior to the event.
