Role and Responsibilities
POW's Winter Guardians are tasked with raising awareness of POW in their local winter sports community
As a Winter Guardian volunteer, your responsibilities fall into these key areas:
Friends of POW Engagement - Sign-up 50 individuals across your resort to the POW UK mailing list
Education - Organise 2 POW education sessions. These can be via showing a POW film or delivering the POW talk. Sessions can be given in a pub or ski club, at a school or as part of a festival or other event. POW can provide film suggestions and/or a powerpoint talk.
Campaign Actions - Take part in at least four POW campaign actions and encourage Friends of POW to participate. These are often simple tasks like; writing a campaign message to your MP, digitally lobbying a polluting industry via social media and delivering grassroots campaigns around carbon positive actions to your community.
Fundraising - Organise at least one fundraising event in your resort – aiming to raise a minimum of £100 through fundraising
Training and Events - Attend a POW UK summit or training event if you can. If not possible watch a POW webinar
Get involved with other POW Events where you can – either in the Alps or around the UK - such as: The Telegraph London Ski Show, The Sheffield Mountain Film Festival, The Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival, The Kendal Mountain Film Festival and local community events
