Receiving

Heavy lifters are required to move crates/boxes within the food bank building and assist with the loading/unloading of the truck when inventory comes into the food bank. The volunteers must be comfortable with lifting up to 50lbs, including lifting over shoulder height and standing for long periods of time.

Driver - Pick-Up

  • Safely and efficiently collect/load purchased and donated foods from various locations in the Cobourg area utilizing Fare Share vehicles, transport them to the food bank and unload the foods to their respective storage locations within the facility
  • A driver and helper are assigned to the vehicle and additional volunteers may be assigned to assist with offloading at the food bank
  • Driver must submit a copy of their valid driver's license to be insured on Fare Share vehicle(s)

Driver - Home Delivery

Our delivery drivers are responsible for the delivery of groceries to Neighbours who cannot access the food bank in person.  Drivers load the van/truck at the food bank and unload at the Neighbours’ locations, following a designated route. They are required to engage with the Neighbours in a friendly and professional manner and may be required to carry cartons/bags up flights of stairs.

Attention to detail is required as the right orders must be delivered to the right location/person.

An updated Vulnerable Sector Check is required in this role.

Daily Wrap-Up

Wrap-up Volunteers help keep the food bank clean at the end of the day and make sure that it is ready for the next day. Duties include cleaning and maintenance, collecting garbage and recycling, and stocking the shopping area for the next day.

Flexible schedule: choose your preferred day and frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly)

Main site: Cobourg; possible Port Hope support needed when indicated
