Once you're signed up, no further action is needed. Simply visit the library on your event day and check in with library staff!

Work with fellow volunteers to pack seeds for our 2025 Seed Library! Join in on some literal bean counting, use your finger to measure out teensy oregano bits, and use scoops of different sizes to measure out flower seeds.  

A seed packing group looks a lot like an assembly line. Everyone will have a dedicated job and work for 2-3 hours on a selected seed project. Tasks include:  

• Labeling coin-sized envelopes with identifying information about our seeds  
• Using tools (scoops, cups, or even a fingertip) to fill packets with seed  
• Sealing envelopes with small stickers to ensure the seeds are secure and ready for patrons 
• Bundling seed packets with provided rubber bands  
• Keeping an accurate count of the seed packets completed to support our system-wide inventory  

What is Seed Library? 

The IndyPL Seed Library offers free seeds to patrons so they can grow plants that sustain them. We also offer workshops to help you learn the skills you need to grow a seed into a mature plant. Visit indypl.org/calendar to see our upcoming events.
