Conservation & Land Stewardship

As with any built project, an environmental restoration project requires maintenance to realize long-term benefits. MCA maintains 11+ post-project sites through planting natives and removing invasives in hopes to promote biodiversity and stream stability at those restored sites. Given the number of sites and hundreds of acres of streambank taken under MCA's wing, our small staff must rely on generous volunteers to help maintain these areas.

Aided by MCA Restoration staff, volunteers are able to engage in site maintenance work such as invasive vegetation removal and native plant installation at multiple levels. Volunteers can begin at an entry or novice level, but work towards becoming a Volunteer Group Leader, trained to lead fellow volunteers in restoration work without MCA staff present. Any level of volunteer-ship is valuable to the stewardship and maintenance of the Mill Creek and its watershed.
