Off-Site Opportunities - Community Engagement (CE) Team Member
INITIAL IMPACT
The Community Engagement (CE) Team Member provides an enjoyable experience at community events and visits by greeting visitors at the library’s booth, sharing information about the library’s programs & services, and handing out giveaways.
SUSTAINED OUTCOMES
As a result of their service, the CE Team Member will enhance the quality of the library’s image and interaction with the community at events and visits, as well as aid the CE Manager in expanding and sustaining future engagement efforts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with set-up and clean-up of booth area and supplies.
2. Greet visitors as they approach the library’s booth.
3. Share information about the library’s current programs & services.
4. Hand out age-appropriate giveaways to visitors.
5. Report any issues to the Lead Team Member on-site.
TRAINING
The CE Team Member will receive an orientation provided by the Volunteer Coordinator, followed by a training session from the CE Manager, before volunteer service begins.
SUPPORT
The CE Manager and/or Lead Team Member on-site will be available to answer questions and address concerns as they arise, and will consult the Volunteer Coordinator as needed.
COMMITMENT
Frequency varies depending on the number of events/visits scheduled; however, plan to attend at least one event per month, 2+ hours per event. A long-term commitment of 1 year or longer is preferred; however, short-term periods of less than 1 year will also be accepted.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
To successfully serve as a CE Team Member, an individual should meet the following requirements:
Age Requirements: Must be at least 14 years of age. [NOTE: Parent/guardian permission required for ages 14-17.]
Attendance/Punctuality: Demonstrates reliability by regularly arriving to volunteer assignment on time. NOTE: This is an offsite opportunity (i.e. outside library walls); volunteer will report to the Main Library and be transported to/from the event/visit site.
Customer Service: Proactively, effectively, and pleasantly meets the needs of both internal and external library customers. Prioritizes service to patrons above all other tasks.
Education and Experience: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements: Ability to periodically bend, lift, reach, turn, hold, carry, grasp, walk and stand. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Ability to speak and hear required.*
