Not all volunteer opportunities happen out in the field; some start right at the heart of our operations!
The County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation Headquarters, located in the County Operations Center in Kearny Mesa, is where many of our behind-the-scenes efforts take place. Volunteers here play an important role in helping us plan, organize, and improve the programs and services we provide to the community.
At Headquarters, you can support a variety of administrative functions such as:

Volunteer coordination and support
You may also have the chance to assist at the History Center, a unique space dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich story of parks and recreation in San Diego County. Volunteers help care for historical records, organize archives, and create materials that connect our community to its heritage.

Established in 1980, the San Diego County Parks Society supports the goals, programs, and activities of San Diego County Parks and Recreation. Your donation funds environmental education programs, youth and community events, historic and cultural preservation, habitat restoration and conservation efforts, and support for the dedicated volunteers who care for our parks. Your gift helps protect and enhance the parks we all love today and for generations to come.
