Gardening and Maintenance Volunteer

As behind the scenes volunteer you will have the opportunity to support all aspects of our museum to ensure that it looks fantastic. You could find yourself using your practical skills to prepare the museum for events and programming,  looking after the garden, buildings or any other hands-on work needed onsite. Full training for all aspects of the role will be provided.

 

 

What to expect :

Our volunteer roles are designed to be tailored around you, your interests and your skills. Some of the things you could be up to include:

  • Working with the venue team to maintain and ensure the museum is at its best, including basic maintenance, painting, cleaning and venue preparation.
  • Working with the venue and programmes team to set-up for and take-down from special events and programming including events and instillations.
  • Work with the venue team to coordinate, manage and enhance onsite gardens, grounds and the venue’s building.
  • Guide, mentor and support other volunteers (younger and neurodiverse) to develop, grow and learn alongside the venue team.
  • This is an ad hoc role, depending on the needs of the museum.

 

This is of course not exhaustive as your volunteering will evolve around you and your skillsets. Full training, guidance and support will be provided.

 

 

Skills and Experience :

Ideally, to be comfortable in this volunteer role we think you will need to have:

  • Willing to get stuck in and get your hands dirty – Essential.
  • An ability to comply with clear instructions and health and safety requirements – Essential.
  • You must be comfortable with manual and often physical activities.
  • Willing to develop a basic knowledge of the museum and its collections.
  • Any existing knowledge or experience is hugely beneficial.
