Tidbinbilla: Nature Play – World of Waterbugs

This activity requires the support of volunteers to guide children with fun outdoor nature play based activities.

The Aim of this activity is to provide children with a fun hands-on interactive activity that will help them to learn and understand how Macroinvertebrates – Waterbugs - provide an indication of the health of a freshwater river or wetland.

Shift Information

This activity is suitable for all fitness levels with minimal lifting, setup and pack up required. You will need to enjoy and have patience when working with young children and their families.

 

Children under 6 will need parental, as well as volunteer assistance, with the netting, capture, and identification of the Waterbugs.

Days: One day during each school holidays.

Time: Winter and Spring school holiday - 10:00am (1 hour included for setup)

Summer and Autumn school holidays - 9:00am (1 hour included for setup)

The shift runs for approximately 3 hours including setup and pack up.

If you would like to volunteer on the day, but cannot attend for the full shift, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator who can facilitate.
