Learning Support Volunteer

The Learning Team hold workshops for local schools and collages at the museum on a regular basis. These workshops involve a variety of activities in the Foyle and use of the museum space, providing a vibrant, varied, and exciting learning experience for children and young people.

This role is supervised by the Learning and Engagement Officer(s).

• Meeting and greeting schools as they arrive at the museum.
• Assist with the set-up of the workshop space both within the Foyle and the Museum galleries where appropriate.
• Assist with activities in the Foyle, and occasionally lead groups of children in activities in public spaces within the museum.
• Demonstrate or assist where necessary with craft activities.
• Help to ensure that work areas are kept clean and tidy during sessions.
• To encourage participation and enjoyment of the activities.
• To promote the use of and engagement with the Museum in a wider context where appropriate.
• To assist with tidying up of materials at the end of the session.

Requirements:

• Some experience in working with children
• Able to or willing to work within a team
• Confidence to interact with children and adults during workshops

School Workshop shifts normally occur on Tuesday - Friday, with a varying schedule.
