English Conversation Tutor - Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens and Max Webber
Our volunteer English Conversation Tutors support adults who are developing the English language skills necessary to live and work in our community. The classes are run on a term-by-term basis on different days of the week.

Requirements of the role:
Essential
- Desire to assist an adult audience
- Competent user of the English language at the conversational level, including an understanding of Australian idiom
- Understanding of cultural differences and different settlement needs. Able to connect and find ways to enrich lessons utilising your knowledge and the students’ knowledge
- Flexible in how and what to teach, responding to the needs of the students
- Willingness to be mentored by other instructors
- Strong commitment to customer-focused service.
- Demonstrated understanding of EEO and WHS principles.
Desirable
- Qualifications (Mission Australia, TAFE AMEP or other ESOL course) and experience in teaching adult education
- Ability to speak a community language
- Previous public library experience
Duration of volunteering
As our staff invest a large amount of time to train volunteer tutors, we ask that you only apply if you are able to make a long term commitment to the role.
Volunteers are needed on various days.
