Emergency Hospitality / Unit Support: This volunteer opportunity provides support to patients and families in the Waiting Room in the Emergency Department.  The Hospitality volunteer warmly greets patient and family members; assists patients with mobility challenges; helps with wayfinding; receives patients while their family members find parking; assists with line queuing, patient location and helps patients and their families pass the time with providing leisure activities and/or visiting. 

Volunteers who work in the Emergency Department must have a calm demeanor and a proven ability to maintain composure in stressful situations. Volunteers are responsible to ensure that patients and their families are as comfortable as possible during their ED visit and the waiting room remains a safe environment for all.
