While we continue to provide assistance to help address immediate needs associated with food insecurity in our community, we also recognize that emergency food as a stand-alone is not a long-term solution. Our goal is to bring strong connected communities through the power of food and employ principles of sustainability, education and training and quality nutrition to achieve this goal.
We create programs that promote food education and literacy, and that provide people with healthy food in a sustainable and dignified way.
Whether at one of our distribution sites, at Community Events, or our Head Office and Warehouse, volunteers are the heart and soul of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and we couldn’t serve our members without them.
Together, volunteers donated about 77,000 hours of time last year – the equivalent of about 39 full-time staff. We could not provide support to 28,000+ people each week without our amazing volunteers.
