Veterinary Care Assistant
**NEW** Veterinary Care Assistant Volunteer role
We have a new and exciting opportunity to join our Marwell Veterinary Team, assisting our registered veterinary nurses in their general day to day running of the practice based tasks.
What does the role involve?
- Maintaining hygiene of our Veterinary surgery and equipment
- Helping the team to prepare for upcoming procedures
- Input of information into our animal records system
- Assisting with pharmacy and consumable stock control
- Assisting with preventative health care tasks, e.g. faecal testing
- Maintaining the health and safety of the surgery and associated rooms
- Packaging and submitting samples
- Some computer and office-based work
- Some ad hoc tasks associated with veterinary surgery management
Please note this role will not involve direct animal handling, however you will be involved in preparation and processes for procedures and may be involved in things like notetaking for health-checks.
We are looking for volunteers that can demonstrate a good level of veterinary care understanding in a clinical veterinary setting, although full training will be provided on relevant policies and procedures. Individuals need to have a thorough and detail-orientated approach to work, good time management, communication skills, and good use of initiative.
This role will involve some lone working, and you will be on your feet most of the day. You will also be handling some surgery-based hazards such as medication, sharps etc. along with some manual handling tasks.
We are looking for up to 5 new Veterinary Care Volunteer Assistants who are able to commit to one day each week on a regular basis, any hours between the hours of 09:00-17:00 (shorter hours within this working day are welcome).
