Sit with a resident until their family can arrive. Annual training is available if interested. The Spiritual Care coordinator or RN (nurse) will provide you more specific information related to the individual you will be sitting with.

Responsibilities: · Establish rapport with residents. · Listen to and provide support to residents. · Report activities and resident concerns to the Care Manager or Nursing staff. · Promote a sense of well being and contribute to the morale of the resident.

Training: Attend Volunteer Orientation. Completion of the Regional Palliative Care Training Program. Other training and in-services may be available.
Competencies: · Have an interest in serving people. · Accept direction and supervision. · Be dependable and committed. · Be friendly and trustworthy. · Able to communicate effectively with residents and staff. · Be mature and motivated. · Be respectful of others’ views and faith.
Screening: · Have a clear Police Information Check. · Complete a TB screening questionnaire. · Provide 2 references, including a letter from the spiritual community.
