People Who Care is a community centered not for profit organisation that has been serving the community for over 40 years. We operate across Perth and Mandurah, offering services and support for those who are frail aged, living with disability or recovering from hardship.

We have many volunteer roles covering the Perth Metropolitan and Mandurah area; there is an opportunity to suit every lifestyle.

Gardening

Summary

Gardening is a fun way for keeping physically fit and reducing everyday stress. Would you like to be part of our weekend gardening program, providing valuable assistance for people that need help maintaining the safety and appearance of their outdoor areas? We would love to hear from green thumbs or friendly people keen to support this great service.


Description

A well maintained outdoor space is important for both safety and enjoyment of one's home. We support people who want to stay in their familiar surroundings but need help to maintain the gardens.

You will be provided with a basic gardening kit to assist you with some of the following:

  • Light weeding
  • Raking leaves
  • Light pruning
  • Window cleaning

You can obtain up to 15 hours for Centrelink mutual obligation requirements.

Whether you are looking for a short term commitment of up to 3 months or longer, we are flexible and welcome all enquiries about this opportunity.

Warehouse Assistant l Bayswater

Summary

Our program, Starting Over Support (SOS) collect donations of pre-loved furniture and home wares for families who need them most. We receive donations at our Bayswater warehouse and collect larger household items by truck during weekdays.


Description

We would like to hear from people with warehousing experience, a background in goods receivals and sorting or those who are passionate about supporting this great program.

Can you do all or some of the following:

  • Receive donations
  • Assist with cleaning of furniture items
  • moving and stacking furniture in the truck

You can obtain up to 15 hours for Centrelink mutual obligation requirements.

Delivery Assistant l Bayswater

Summary

We provide an individual driving service to help people to their appointments, utilise public resources, or to have a coffee and catch up with friends. We would love to hear from compassionate, friendly and outgoing people keen to support this great service.


Description

Companionship, friendly interaction and a caring personality are integral parts of this position, if you enjoy spending time with the elderly and have good time management skills, then we would like to hear from you. Some things that you’ll do to help;

  • Carry shopping and provide assistance with putting items away
  • Help people stay connected to their community and provide general assistance
  • Build relationships through meaningful conversation for a lasting impression

After some time in this role, if you feel that you would like to step into the drivers seat, we will support you and provide relevant training.

Kitchen Assistant l Mandurah

Summary

We provide lunch, morning and afternoon tea, for people visiting our social support centre each week day. We would love to hear from home cooks, retirees with a background in hospitality or friendly people keen to learn and support this great program.


Description

Sharing a meal together is an important part of the day for our social support program participants. If you enjoy cooking and serving others with a smile we would love to have you in our team. We can provide training and support however these skills would be handy:

  • Knowledge of hygiene and safety in the kitchen
  • Able to read and follow a recipe
  • Confident with preparing home style meals
  • Able to get on well with others and make people from all backgrounds feel welcome and valued

Car Washer l Guildford & Gosnells

Summary

We have a range of vehicles that are driven on a daily basis to support people in the community. We would like to hear from car detailing gurus, people who have an attention to detail and who like to be a bit fussy when it comes to cleaning and tidying.


Description

A fresh clean car or coaster bus is always nice to sit in when heading out for the day. We support people who live independently in their homes that require support to get to their appointments or social events.

Can you do all or some of the following:

  • Hose down and wash small cars and tall buses
  • Vaccuming
  • Wipe over surfaces inside and out
  • Rubbish removal
  • Spot cleaning

You can obtain up to 15 hours for Centrelink mutual obligation requirements.

We provide a Shopping Bus service on Tuesday's to help people maintain access to community which is important to them. We would love to hear from community minded, friendly people keen to support this great service.
