Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve Weed Whackers

Participating in the Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve Weed Whackers volunteering you will be removing  invasive woody weeds from the karst landscape. Weed removal will concentrate on the slopes around the critically endangered– Bursaria calcicole. Similar volunteer program run biannually from 2012-2017 with volunteers contributing over 4,000hrsof woody weed removal over 24.7ha of steep bushland. NPWS staff and contractors annually carrying out weed control works in the karst conservation reserve, concentrating on the removal of serrated tussock, blackberry and herbaceous weeds around the visitor precinct.
 
An opportunity to spend time with like-minded people carrying out worthwhile bush regeneration in a spectacular karst environment.
Accommodation, meals, training and equipment provided. Free cave tour for volunteers included.
 
Weekend event : Saturday 13th Jun Sunday 14th June 2026 
 
Accessibility: Moderate fitness required to walk off-track up hill. Not wheelchair-accessible
 
Training: All training will be provided by NPWS staff 
 
Qualifications: Volunteers will be required to complete the Pesticide Awareness Training prior to attending this weekend event
