Willamette National Forest Volunteer Opportunities

On Thursday 4-9-2026, we will start crosscut logout on good old Separation Lake Trail #3536 in the Three Sisters Wilderness.  Scouting found that the trail got hammered over the winter; plenty of logs to cut as well as a big destruction area near George Creek.  We will skip over the destruction area until a more formal plan is made to address it in the future.  Just beyond the destruction area are several smaller tangles of big timber that could be a project  Expect a good day with plenty of good sawing and some complex logs!

For those that are new to this trail, it is a reverse hike, meaning down on the way in and up on the way out.  The trail is well graded and not overly steep, but can start to feel like a long slog on the way back out!

We will meet at the Albertson’s parking lot in Springfield just before 7:00AM *NOTE EARLIER START TIME*, address: 5755 S. Main St.  We meet at the far end of the parking lot by the McDonalds and the bus terminal.  We will be leaving there to head to the TH at about 07:00AM.

Bring tools, lunch and snacks, extra water, sunscreen, rain gear, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, mosquito repellent or netting (they haven't hatched yet but you never know!), and sturdy boots.  Please let the crew leader know ahead of time if you need a hard hat or other PPE.
