Trails - Santiam Wagon Road - Seven Mile section logout and tread repair

The Seven Mile section needs some help getting back into shape after the December storms.  A team was already in there cleaning up some high complexity blow down.  We now need to go in behind them and recreate tread.  Plus there is still enough logout to keep a team or two busy for the day.

We will be starting this work day at the junction with Latiwi Creek Road (FR 2044) and heading east towards Seven Mile Horse Camp.   We will be using hand and power tools to remove brush that is encroaching on the trail. No experience is necessary.

There is a need for 1-2 B-certified chainsaw sawyers to remove logs that are blocking the trail.

We will meet at 9:00 am at the Latiwi creek trailhead off Hwy 20 (details to be provided later).  We will head east towards the Seven Mile trailhead, turning around to make it back to the trailhead by 4:00 pm.  Participants need sturdy boots, long sleeved shirts/long pants, weather-appropriate outer wear, and a pack to carry lunch, water and snacks.  I can provide safety glasses, work gloves, and some tools.

Expect up to a moderate-to-difficult 5-mile (round trip) hike.

Additional details will be provided the day before the event for those that sign up.

Questions can be directed to Karol Schrems at schrems1@comcast.net .
