Trails - Echo Basin logout and drainage

Echo Basin has old-growth Alaska Yellow Cedar scattered along the trail and then opens into a wet meadow surrounded by basin headwalls with a colorful array of wildflowers.  The boardwalk is currently closed, yet the trail needs to be maintained so that visitors can enjoy the cedars and flowers following a "Y" instead of a lollipop until the boardwalks can be replaced.

However, wind and rain has done a lot of damage recently and the trail needs a lot of help.  For this outing we will be focused on (1) logout and (2) repairing water bars and clearing drains.  There is a need for 1 B-sawyer team and 1-2 drainage teams.

The trail is steep at times and rocky in washed-out areas.

No experience is necessary.

We will meet at the Hackleman Old Growth Grove parking lot at 9:00 am and carpool/caravan to the trailhead.  Bring usual PPE (hard hat, glasses, gloves, boots, etc), loppers and hand saws (if you have them), and a day pack with food and water.  Additional instructions will be sent the day before the event to participants that have signed up.

Questions can directed to Karol Schrems at karol.schrems@pm.me .
