Crocus Group Activities Volunteer

Crocus Group is a support service for bereaved children in Highland. It is not a traditional counselling service. Activities volunteers help to facilitate group programmes where young people can make memories, share their stories and explore healthy ways to cope with difficult feelings and manage their grief, thus building resilience.
To do this role, it's essential that you have good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to young people. You must also have the ability to be around people in distress and remain calm. A full background check is required before starting in the role.
The commitment sought is a minimum of 6 months for continuity for the children and then for as long there is mutual benefit for Highland Hospice and the volunteer.
The frequency of volunteering is regular attendance to the Group programmes which run during weekday evenings for a set block of weeks during school term time. Volunteers are encourage to also attend at least one full weekday “Days to Remember” session which run throughout the year (6 times in the year).
