Be the welcoming face of our Inpatient Unit and help create a warm, supportive environment for patients, families, and visitors.
Based within our 11-bedded Inpatient Unit, our Ward Reception Volunteers play an important role in ensuring everyone who visits the hospice receives a friendly welcome and compassionate support.
This rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people, has good communication skills, and takes pride in helping others. As part of the ward team, you'll help create a positive experience for visitors while supporting staff with a variety of non-clinical duties.
Typical responsibilities include:
- Welcoming patients, visitors, and families to the unit
- Preparing and serving refreshments for visitors
- Answering queries and providing general assistance
- Supporting the Clinical Secretary and nursing staff with administrative and practical tasks
- Helping maintain a friendly, calm, and welcoming atmosphere
Computer skills are essential for this role, along with a warm, approachable manner and a willingness to help wherever needed.

Volunteer shifts available:
- Monday to Friday: 9:00am-1:00pm, 1:00pm-5:00pm, 5:30pm-7:30pm
- Weekends: 11:30am-1:00pm, 3:30pm-6:00pm
We are also looking for reserve volunteers who can help provide cover during holidays and other absences.
Minimum age: 18 years.
