North Pennines National Landscape

Volunteer with us for a session of sorting and sowing wildflower seeds. We will be sowing seeds from later-flowering, long-lived perennial species such as wood crane’s-bill, great burnet, devil’s-bit scabious and Lady’s-mantles that have been collected from existing populations in the North Pennines. Occasionally we may be sowing seeds from rarer plants such as sea thrift and spring sandwort.

These seeds are sown into trays or pots and looked after for a year. Once grown these plants will be used to enhance upland hay meadows in various locations across the North Pennines.

Dates are:

• 6 October         (10am to 3.30pm)
• 29 October       (10am to 3.30pm)
• 17 November   (10am to 3.30pm)
• 25 November   (10am to noon)

Locations will vary  - Mickleton Village Hall, Sinderhope Village Hall, Whitley Chapel Village Hall and Bowlees Visitor Centre.

Delivered as part of the North Pennines National Landscape’s ongoing programme of works, supporting farmers and landowners to deliver nature recovery.

All training and equipment will be provided. Children must be supervised by an adult.
