Village Volunteer
OBJECTIVE
The role of the Village Volunteer is to support, compliment, enhance and enrich resident care at Finlandia Village through the involvement and leadership of a qualified community workforce.

COMMITMENT
Volunteers at Finlandia Village are committed to their work, and they are highly-valued members of the Village community.
Every day volunteers enrich the lives of our residents, their families and our employees in countless ways:
- Participation in required orientation and program specific training sessions (ie: Music & Memory)
- At minimum, six months or 40 hours of volunteer support
- At minimum, one hour of volunteer support per Village visit
- One Village visit per week (recommended)
- Respect the rights of our residents
- Adhere to policies and procedures of the Village and the Village Volunteer Program
- Maintain resident and facility confidentiality practices
- Maintain positive and respectful relationships with residents and staff
- Support staff in daily programming and special events
- Practice due diligence with respect to Health & Safety procedures
AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITIES
- Foster a supporting role in enhancing the quality of life of each resident by enriching their social environment through daily programs and activities.
- Provide increased opportunities for residents’ participation in programs through program leadership.
- Enjoy comforting, friendly and unhurried time with our residents.
- Support Finnish culture, programs and special events.
- Assist with a variety of clerical projects.
- To participate in specific training for additional opportunities, such as: Music and Memory

AGE REQUIREMENT
- Adolescent: 14-17yrs with Parent/Guardian agreement
- Adult: 18yrs +
INTERACTION LEVEL
- Small or large group settings or one-to-one interaction
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION
- Provide at own cost, Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen: 18yrs +
- Provide at own cost, a Two-Step Mantoux Test (TB)
- Influenza Vaccine (Flu Shot):
- Not required, however, highly encouraged
- Proof of vaccination (annually)
- Provide at own cost, Standard First Aid & CPR Level C:
- Not required, however, highly encouraged
- Proof of re-certification
