Position Title: Volunteer English Tutor
Section/Unit: Navitas Bankstown
The Volunteer Tutor Scheme is a volunteer program designed to help migrants and refugees who are unable to attend AMEP English classes or who require additional learning support, with one on one lessons for 1 hour per week. The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) provides up to 510 hours of English language tuition to help them learn basic English language and settlement skills so they can confidently participate in Australian society.
Volunteer Tutors teach English to new migrants and refugees who are unable to access on-site classes. Tutoring is across the Bankstown, Fairfield, Cabramatta, Liverpool and Campbelltown council areas. Lesson times are flexible depending on your availability - can be during weekdays or weekends, during or out of work hours.
Anyone can become a volunteer tutor, even if you’re not a native English speaker. No teaching experience is required, all you need is confidence in English, access to transport and the desire to help others learn.
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:
- A volunteer Working with Children Check (WWC)
- A Police Check
