Needham Neighbor Brigade
Welcome to the Needham chapter of Neighbor Brigade! Our chapter was formed in May 2011. Whether you are seeking assistance or looking to provide help to another, you’ve come to the right place. Our volunteer chapter leaders donate time to coordinate the needs of families in crisis with the volunteers who want to help. Read on to learn more about their passion for Neighbor Brigade, and help us spread the word! We are always looking to expand our presence here in Needham among volunteers and potential recipients alike.
Neighbor Brigade establishes community-specific networks of volunteers that can be mobilized to help residents facing sudden crisis manage day-to-day tasks such as meal preparation, rides, and basic household chores. Our chapter is just one of 29 chapters helping their neighbors in crisis! To learn more about us and our other chapters, please visit our home page here.

Jo-Ann and her husband, who is also a NB volunteer, have been Needham residents since 1980. Their daughter and son attended the Needham public schools and during their school years Jo-Ann was involved in many volunteer positions. Years later when looking for a volunteer opportunity Jo-Ann’s friend, and Neighbor Brigade’s founder, Pam Washek, encouraged her to launch the Needham chapter. The chapter launched in March 2011 and Jo-Ann has been its sole leader ever since. Beyond her volunteer work, Jo-Ann has been a RN for 43 years and has spent her entire career as an OR nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital. With the help and support of her volunteers, coordinating the Needham chapter of Neighbor Brigade has been a most rewarding and fulfilling experience. In her spare time, Jo-Ann enjoys doing crafts, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
