Support Call

A phone call provides a touchpoint to potentially decrease feelings of loneliness and isolation and check on health and wellness - which can include emotional and physical wellbeing.

Pet Therapy Visit

Do you have an animal that is certified in Pet Therapy? Consider bringing them to a person who may be socially isolated, lonely or need a joyful visit.

Visit Someone Staying at the Hospice House

In this role, volunteers will directly interact with hospice patients and/or their families. Volunteers may be assigned to an individual or to all residents who are accepting of a volunteer visit. Residents may be there for a short stay, an undefined length of stay or death may be imminent. Volunteers create positive engagement through reading, conversation or other activities. May also provide a quiet presence at the bedside.

Memory Bears/Pillows

Our Memory Bears and Pillows are more than keepsakes — they’re a comforting way for families to hold their loved one close. Each one is thoughtfully handcrafted using clothing that belonged to someone special. Every stitch tells a story, creating a beautiful and tangible memory they can cherish forever.

Help us create a Memory Bear or Pillow that brings comfort and keeps our loved one’s spirit near.

Not a sewer? We also need volunteers to help collect donations, pick up material and drop off the memory items to our teams and families.

Vigil Visit

The Voyage team of volunteers offer companionship and support to patients who are nearing the end of life. The team provides a dignified death to individuals who have no family or close friends to sit with them at the end of life. Through this team, we can provide a compassionate presence for people on hospice.

Indirect Support

The goal of the Indirect Support Volunteer is to support paid staff with duties that assist them in providing excellent care to hospice patients and families. By assisting with certain duties, volunteers free up paid staff so that they can spend more time coordinating care with members of the team and providing direct care to patients and families.

Provide Support to a Caregiver/Family Member

Give someone a break from the caring environment by staying with their loved one. This provides a physical, emotional and mental relief for someone and can temporarily relieve symptoms of stress and burnout.

Special Event Phone Calls (Event reminders, emergency preparedness, tuck-ins)

Make phone calls to remind people of upcoming events, check on them during a natural disaster, or check to see if support needs to be adjusted.

Visit an Isolated Adult

Spend one on one time with someone who may be alone and have limited socialization.
