NVADG Radio Operations
Clear communication saves time, resources, and lives. This in-depth, hands-on Radio Communications Class will take you beyond the basics and give you a strong working knowledge of the radio systems we rely on in the field.
Led by Wade Elmore (CAL OES, Primary Instructor) and Garrett Needles (Assistant Instructor), this course will walk you through everything from understanding our repeater network to mastering our arsenal of radios you’ll utilize during an incident. You’ll gain hands-on experience in: - Proper radio care and maintenance - Clear and effective communication techniques - Exploring radio functions and features - Understanding zones and cloning during incidents - Using GPS functions and other advanced tools
This is a highly practical, interactive class designed to build your confidence and skills on the radio. Whether you’re brand-new or looking for a refresher and info on recent changes, you’ll leave better prepared to communicate clearly and effectively when it matters most. Attendees will receive an updated "Radio Operations" qualification.
Class is open to Evac Team and Animal Comm Team volunteers through October 1st, then open to all Volunteers. Parking at Southgate: Please only park on the NVADG side (the paved driveway), not Recology's side.
