Our South London depot is based in Deptford (SE8 5HY). We are a 15–20-minute walk from Surrey Quays, New Cross Gate and Deptford underground and overground stations.

We have several roles available for volunteers in South London. You can stick to one role or do as many as you like!

Warehouse Assistant

Volunteers are an essential part of the operation, sorting the food we receive from our supply partners, and preparing crates of food ready to be delivered out to the organisations that we support across London. Anyone can do it, as long as you are relatively fit and active.

Driver

Drivers are responsible for visiting our suppliers to collect high-quality and nutritious food and delivering this food to our charities. This role will give you the opportunity to get out and about in London and see first-hand the impact the charity is having on people’s lives. Drivers need to be:

  • Over 21 years old
  • Have been driving for over a year
  • Have no more than five points on their license.

Co-Driver

Along with a driver, co-drivers s are responsible for visiting our suppliers to collect high-quality and nutritious food and delivering this food to our charities. Driver assistants help the driver with navigation, completing some admin tasks along the route and helping load and unload the van. 

We have very flexible shifts and are looking for daytime volunteers from Monday to Saturday. You can volunteer as often or as little as you like. Fill in an application form then book an induction to get started!

Mission Statement

More than eight million people in the UK struggle to afford to eat every day, while our food industry generates 100,000 tonnes of edible food waste each year.

We rescue good food that cannot be sold and would otherwise go to waste.  This is high-quality and nutritious, including a high proportion of fresh fruit and vegetables, baked goods, salads, meat and fish.  We collect or receive food from  suppliers, including supermarkets, wholesalers, farms, restaurants and delis.

We sort and then deliver this food to charities that cook meals and prepare food parcels for vulnerable people and to primary schools to distribute to children and their families.
