Women's Health Support
At our clinics, we understand that waiting for an appointment can be a stressful experience, especially for patients visiting the Colposcopy and High Risk Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics. The anxiety felt during these wait times could be significantly eased with the calming presence of one or even two volunteers. This is particularly helpful since our patients are often younger, though Fridays tend to bring in a wider range of ages.
The two primary clinics where support is most needed are the High Risk Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic, which serves expectant mothers with comorbidities. These patients often juggle the demands of pregnancy alongside caring for other young children and could really benefit from extra support. The Colposcopy Clinic, which focuses on patients at risk for cervical cancer or those with abnormal PAP smears, also sees individuals who may need a little extra reassurance during their visits. Volunteers could play a key role in making these patients feel more comfortable and supported. Volunteers may also be tasked to assist the units' administrative teams complete tasks.
