Community Visiting
The primary purpose of “Home Care Community Visiting for Adults” is to enhance the quality of life of AHS Homecare clients through voluntary companionship. The volunteer will visit with a client who is isolated and has expressed interest in having a “Friendly Visitor” in their home, once a week for 1-3 hours, Monday- Friday between the hours of 9am-3pm. The visitor and client will participate in activities of their choosing together.
Some companionship activities that could be enjoyed thru the “Community Visiting for Adults” program include:
- Going for short walks
- Having tea/coffee/snacks
- Writing letters
- Reading & Conversation
- Simple crafts & hobbies
- Gardening
Qualities of Home Care Community Visitors:
- Caring individuals over the age of 18, who have a genuine desire to enhance the quality of life of older adults and individuals with disabilities
- Possess Excellent listening and communication skills
- Have a friendly, outgoing nature and who have proven to be reliable and non-judgmental
- Has regular access to dependable transportation
- Has a willingness to commit to a regularly scheduled time with an assigned client
- Has Criminal Security Clearance and has Occupational Health & Safety Clearance
- Will abide by the visitation policies laid out by Volunteer Resources
