Thank you for your interest in volunteer opportunities with the Verde Valley Archaeology Center. This application will provide your contact information. We will also ask for your areas of interest and availability.
Volunteers perform a variety of functions. Some of these positions involve a high level of responsibility, such as administrative access to our computer system, cash accounting, operating the Center’s vehicles, holding facility keys and security codes, working unsupervised with children’s education programs, and the handling of valuable artifacts. VVAC volunteers will required a limited background check.
The VVAC is concerned about your safety and wellbeing. If archaeological fieldwork is your preferred volunteer activity you may be asked to use provided personal protective equipment. Laboratory and curation volunteers may be trained on OSHA and other safety requirements. Docents interacting with the general public are expected to wear face masks when required by the VVAC in compliance with CDC Guidelines for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please take a moment after completing this application to review the Center’s COVID-19 policy on our website.
OUR MISSION is to preserve archaeological sites and collections, to curate the collections locally, and to make them available for research and education; to develop partnerships with American Indians, cultural groups and the communities we serve; and to foster a deeper understanding of prehistory and American Indian history in the Verde Valley through the science of archaeology.
