Rink Helper
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Rink Helper will also work closely with the Ice Technician on shift that day. The Rink Helper will assist where needed as the roles change by the season. This is a physically demanding role requiring good physical fitness, including the ability to bend, lift and kneel.
This position would appeal to someone who likes to work with their hands and enjoys some fresh air during their shift.
Responsibilities |
- Assist the Ice Technician by moving the hockey nets when he is flooding the ice
- Check the dressing rooms and empty garbage cans and check the cleanliness of the washroom/shower area and notify staff if there is any issues
- Walk around outside of facility, picking up any litter and checking for broken bottles etc. In addition, if you notice any dumping of garbage, you would then notify Ice Technician or Facility Manager
- In the Winter Months:
- When it snows, shovel out the players benches in the outdoor rink
- Walk around the facility and see if snow clearing or gridding (sanding) is needed in slippery areas
- Check the entrances to ensure they are cleared of snow and check if side doors are locked
- In the Summer Months:
- Rake the sand for Beach volleyball to ensure it is even for play
- Empty garbage cans by the beach volleyball rink
- Look for any maintenance issues and bring to Ice Technician’s attention
