1. School Holiday Programs - High Support School Holiday Programs

Summer High Support School Holiday Program

The Cahoots High Support School Holiday Program offers engaging and meaningful activities for participants aged 5 to 17 years who require a higher level of support. The program is based in Bayswater and is designed to provide a safe, structured, and supportive environment where participants can build confidence, develop skills, and have fun.

The program focuses on sensory-based and recreational experiences that support emotional regulation, social connection, communication, and personal development. Activities are tailored to participants' individual needs, interests, and goals.

How it Works

The Cahoots High Support School Holiday Program aims to engage young people in a range of sensory, recreational, and community-based activities in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment.

Participants are supported in small groups by a dedicated team of Cahoots staff and volunteers. Many participants require one-to-one support to ensure they can fully engage in activities and achieve their individual goals.

Program hours are 8:30am to 5:30pm. Volunteers will receive a 30-minute break during the day. Food, water refill station, transport, and access to all activities are provided for both participants and volunteers.

Activities May Include

  • Sensory games and activities
  • Water play and swimming
  • Excursions and community outings
  • Arts and crafts
  • Food play and cooking activities
  • Social activities and games
  • Dining out and cafĂ© visits

Please note that activities may vary between days based on participant needs, interests, weather conditions, and program requirements.

Program Leader Role

As a Program Leader, you will provide direct support to one participant throughout the day. Your role is to assist them to engage in activities, develop social connections, work towards their goals, and have a positive and enjoyable experience.

You will support participants to participate in all aspects of the program while providing safe, respectful, and person-centred support. Program Leaders work alongside Cahoots staff and other volunteers to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where participants can thrive.

Additional Support Requirements

Please note that many participants within the High Support Program require additional behavioural, communication, and personal care support. Cahoots staff and Support Workers are available to assist with personal care and the management of complex support needs where required.

Volunteers should be comfortable participating in sensory activities, community outings, and water-based activities, while remaining flexible and responsive to the individual needs of participants.
